In the bible everyone knows the story of Adam and Eve. How they were the only two people on earth and they knew nothing. That is to say they didn't know anything good or bad, they knew facts, they knew of god, they knew things, but they didn't know happiness, neither did they know pain. Nothing until they took the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Then they knew joy, sorrow, pleasure, pain, good and evil. This experience is forever referred to as "The Fall".
In my personal life experience (which granted isn't much) we each experience our own sort of personal "Fall". Meaning we are in a state of ignorance and through some experience we find that something is either good or bad. Usually this is through a personal trial, and if we find something is good we experience good feelings. If we find something is bad we experience bad feelings. The question I'm asking is: Is it better to live in a state of ignorance, or to know all the good and bad things of life. To be safe, or to be full of knowledge?
Now right of the bat it probably sounds obvious. It probably sounds like, "Oh you want knowledge, oh you want the good things. The bad feelings are worth it for the good things. However if you look at it from a certain point of view ignorance may sound more appealing. When you're in a state of ignorance are you happy, "Well you could be so much happier" but do you know that? From your current point of view, you are as happy as you could ever be. You're safe. Even if you do know there's something better out there but you're happy now, why change what you know works. You are as a little child. Don't you have moments where you think, "I wish I was a little kid, things were so much simpler back then." Well of course they were, you were ignorant or perhaps another word is innocent. Then all of a sudden life happens and things are so complicated, there was so much confusion and pain. Wouldn't it have been better if that never happened? Ignorance is bliss.
Then comes the point where many of us are now. The "post life" stage, where life has happened to us and we're all grown up now. You've done it all, you've tried everything. Sure some things didn't work out so well, but hey look how much I've learned. I've found the best possible way to live my life, and I know it's the best possible way because I've tried everything else. In my life I've met some people were grown and were still in a state of ignorance or innocence. They lived in their own little bubble. When I compared my life to theirs I felt as if I had accomplished more. That I had found out what works. While they stuck to the first thing that worked (even if it didn't work super well). Would you rather see things in black in white or in color? Well color of course! It's so much prettier and so much more exciting. If you saw things in just black and white you might think "Meh, this is fine, I'm good." Of course everyone wants to see in color, so why live life in black and white?
Personally I have my opinion and I know where I stand, but this is something to think about and seriously consider. I'm very curious to know what everyone has to say so please let me know what you think! Thanks for reading and have a very good night:)
